PAPADOPOULOS ONCE MORE CONFESSES THAT HE DOES NOT WANT A
SOLUTION BASED ON THE ANNAN PLAN
The Greek Cypriot Leader Tassos Papadopoulos who did not
reply to any of the calls made by the UN Secretary General "to send the
changes he wanted to make to the Annan Plan", has put forward his stance on
this issue.
According to the Greek Cypriot press Papadopoulos speaking
at a special congress celebrating communist party AKEL’s 80th
anniversary once more confessed that he did not want a solution based on the
Annan Plan.
Papadopoulos stating that the existing situation of the
Greek Cypriots was better than accepting the Annan Plan said "What I said
then, was proved to be right… It is clear that our situation today is much
better than if we had accepted the Annan Plan".
Papadopoulos claiming that South Cyprus’ membership to the
EU had created the necessary preconditions for easing the articles of the
solution said "We believe that the contents of the solution should also be of
interest to the EU therefore, we want the EU to play a more active role in the
solution process."
