FANATIC HRISI AVGI MEMBER RELEASED
Hristodulos
Nikolaidis the fanatical member of the extreme
rascist Greek Cypriot Hrisi Avgi (Golden Dawn) organization, who brutally
attacked and beat up two Turkish Cypriots on 31 March and 27 July 2005 in
South Cyprus, was released by the South Nicosia District Court on 4 November
2005. Following the incidents both Turkish Cypriots made formal complaints and
also submitted their medical reports to Greek Cypriot police and Hristodulos
Nikolaidis was later arrested.
Following several postponements, the case
was finally concluded on 4 November 2005 and Nikolaidis was acquited after the
Greek Cypriot judge found the statements given by the two Turkish Cypriots in
question to be insufficient.
On 27 July 2005 at the Sitio Restaurant in
South Nicosia Turkish Cyprito Sadık Aktan and Greek Cypriot Marios Kleanthus
were both beaten up by Hristodulos Nikolaidis only because he realized that
one of the two men sitting at the next table was a Turkish Cypriot and they
were speaking in English.
The other incident took place in the Trodos
region on 13 March 2005 and again the same Greek Cypriot fanatic Nikolaidis
attacked another Turkish Cypriot Veysel Toksoy for no apparent reason and just
because he realized from the car licence plate that Toksoy was a Turkish
Cypriot.
