the matter of officialising the September 14 as the Rememberance Day for
Asia Minor Hellenism and the Asia Minor Catastrophe as published in the

14
September 1922 has been
accepted as a historically important day in memory of Greeks who were
massacred by the Turks.
Because
Cyprus is an inseparable part of Hellenism, Cyprus also shares the same
feelings due to the Turkish oppression and respects the memories of the
Greeks, shares the same agony
and;
Notifies
that, Asia Minor Catastrophe constitutes an important part of historical
realities of this nation’s long history and;
Knowing
that, the diminution of Hellenism is unquestionably a national policy and
goal of the Turkish state and;
As
shown by the code, because the official confirmation of history
of the Greek nation is the answer to the strategic goals of the Turkish
expansionism,
The
House of Representatives enacts, due to the above mentioned reasons, the
following law:
1-
This
law officially approves the date of September 14 as the Official
Rememberance Day for Asia Minor Hellenism and Asia Minor Catastrophe, a 2003
Law.
2-
Reaffirming
this as a fact, the People of Cyprus accepts the date of 14 September 1922
as the Official Rememberance and Honour Day of the Hellenic people of Asia
Minor who were displaced and unfairly massacred,
3-
The
People of Cyprus asserts to give speeches and organise activities, memorials
and various other facilities amid the approval of the law by the Council of
Ministers and its publication in the Official Gazette, within one month.
