REARMAMENT: 4 SPEED-BOATS AND 6 COASTAL RADARS
The Greek Cypriot daily
‘Alithia’ reported that the Greek Cypriot Administration has spent 15
million Cyprus Pounds for protecting its coastline and that members of the
Greek Cypriot National Guard and Harbour Police will go to Italy and Israel
this week to be trained on using the 4 speed-boats and coast radars, which the
Greek Cypriot Administration will receive by the end of the year.
The daily wrote that in the
tender for the speed-boats approximately 10 million Cyprus Pounds was given to
the Italian "Cantier Navale" firm and that two of these speed-boats
would be used by Greek Cypriot harbour police and the other two by the Greek
Cypriot National Guard for military purposes.
It was added that mobile coast
radars would be placed in Larnaca, the Vasiliko region, Protara, Paphos,
Limassol and Latsi. The cost of the radars is 10 million 742 thousand US
Dollars.
