CYPRIOT POLICE OFFICE’S RELATION WITH THE CAR SMUGGLING (26.09.02)
The Greek Cypriot Justice Minister
Nikos Koşiş, resigned upon allegations that certain high ranking police
officials were involved with the scandal regarding luxury car imports
following their dismantling into the country.
Following
the resignation of Koşiş, the Greek Cypriot Chief of Police Andreas
Angelidis, also resigned yesterday. It was reported that the Greek Cypriot
leader Glafcos Clerides had accepted both resignations.
Meanwhile,
it was reported that the Greek Cypriot government, asked for an independent
inquiry on the occasion which harmed the trust of the Greek Cypriot people
towards the Greek Cypriot police.
