SMUGGLING TOUCHES TO MILOSEVIC (31.05.02)
According
To the Greek Cypriot daily "Alithia", the investigation carried out
by European Bureau for Struggling for Fraud (OLAF) and Greek Cypriot Custom
Authorities on CT Tobacco company, which is alleged to have links with
international cigarette smuggling, touches the former Yugoslav President
Slobodan Milosevic.
It
was reported that the yacht of Hristoforos Tornarides, the owner of CT Tobacca,
was previously owned by the former Yugoslav President.
Alithia
said the yacht previously owned by Milosevic (purchased for 1 million 500
thousand CP), was later soled to a company in Panama. It was also stated that
the relevant company bought the yacht by paying 220 thousand CP upfront and
paid the remaining amount with a certain amount of cigarettes.
Alithia
said that if yacht impounded by customs proved to have been owned by Milosevic
then it would surely interest the International Criminal Court prosecutor
Carla Del Ponte.
