TERRORIST ORGANIZATION
TRYING TO COLLECT PROTECTION MONEY FROM SOUTH CYPRUS (28.06.02)
It has been reported that
the terrorist organization the PKK / KADEK is carrying out various actions in
South Cyprus and Iraq to forcefully collect money and food.
It is reported that in
addition to the income the terrorist organization gains from drugs smuggling,
the financial aid it receives has dropped by 55 per cent this year when
compared to the aid received in the first five months of last year, and the
terrorist organization is now experiencing major financial difficulties.
As a result of this
situation, the PKK / KADEK have increased their activities in South Cyprus and
under the leadership of Lazaros Mavros and Gallenos are extorting money in
Limasol and the Greek section of Nicosia.
It
is also reported that income obtained from illegal means is being deposited in
Greek Cypriot bank accounts and that approximately 200 terrorists, who have
been shipped to South Cyprus, are being trained in the four camps operating in
South Cyprus.
