CONNECTIONS
OF NOVEMBER 17 TERRORIST ORGANIZATION (29.07.02)
According
to the Greek Cypriot weekly “Kirpos Simera”, authorities in Greece are
investigating the connections of the “November 17” terrorist organization
with the “Dev-Sol” organization, who entered into co-operation with the
PKK terrorist organization after 1988.
The
weekly reported that amongst the weapons stolen from the Rafina Ports
Directorate, several Uzi-type weapons were also stolen, and if it can be
determined that the weapons in the “November 17” organization’s secret
house are Uzi-type weapons, then this will be the first concrete evidence of
the “Dev-Sol’s” connection with the “November 17” terrorist
organization.
The
weekly added that the British police have discovered the “Cyprus arm” of
the “Novermber 17” terrorist organization and is insisting that it is
operating in South Cyprus and Greece. The British police want to extend their
investigation in all directions and through the initiatives of the British
investigations are also being directed towards “Cyprus”, and according to
existing information it has been revealed that two members of the “November
17” organization are in South
Cyprus and it’s possible that arrests could be made in South Nicosia.
The
weekly added that the British fear that the active commando sniper group under
the code name “Theofilos
Yeoryiades” make take action at any time and that up until now no mention
has been made of the arrested members of the “November 17” organization
from this group. The weekly also reminded that the group in question claimed
responsibility for the murder of Turkish diplomat Ömer Haluk Sipahioðlu.
