PRESIDENT TALAT RESPONDED
TO KOFFI ANNAN’S LETTEROn
4 April 2006, the TRNC President Mehmet Ali Talat responded to the letter
of UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan sent at the end of March 2006. In his
letter President Talat requested from Secretary- General Kofi Annan to
display a clearer attitude on the issue of settlement.
In the letter President Talat gave the
following message:
“As you are well aware, during the new
settlement process, we believe the Plan, which is called by your name,
should be taken as a base. However, one issue should be clarified. Will
Annan Plan be on the table during the new settlement process or not? This
is not very clear for me. Could you please clarify this issue and explain
your concrete ideas.”
