ERÇAKICA: "THERE ISN’T ANY EXPRESSION IN
ANNAN’S REPORT ACCUSING BOTH SIDES FOR NON-SOLUTION"
Presidential Spokesman Hasan Erçakıca stated that the
UN Secretary General’s report, which he submitted to the Security Council
concerning the extension of the mandate of the UN Peacekeeping Force in
Cyprus, was exaggerated by the Turkish Cypriot press.
Spokesman Erçakıca speaking to the Cyprus Turkish News
Agency (TAK) on Saturday (2 December) said: “There isn’t any expression in
Annan’s report accusing both sides for non-solution. We couldn’t see this
expression, which have appeared in the news headlines, in the report. It
is wrong to make such comments on Annan’s expressions."
Erçakıca also stressed that the Turkish Cypriot side
was not responsible for the non-solution of the Cyprus problem.
Pointing out that the Presidency’s evaluation of
Annan’s report was still continuing, Erçakıca said a more comprehensive
statement would be made in the forthcoming days.
