PRIME MINISTER SOYER: "GREEK
CYPRIOTS POLITICAL LEADERS DO NOT WANT SETLEMENT"
TRNC Prime Minister Ferdi Sabit Soyer stated
that it was the Greek Cypriot side that was running away from a settlement
and wasting time.
Responding to a question whether there
would be any initiative from the Turkish side to start negotiations in
2006, said, it was the Turkish side that is in favour of and spending
efforts for the restart of the negotiations. Pointing out that President
Talat was continuously calling upon for the restart of negotiations Soyer
said, it was the Greek Cypriot political leaders that were constantly
running away from settlement.

Prime Minister Ferdi Sabit Soyer responding
to another question sated that, Matsakis, who was arrested for stealing
the Turkish flag and taken to the court, violated the Turkish Cypriot
people’s moral, national and communal values.
UN SECRETARY GENERAL’S
CYPRUS SPECIAL REPRESENTATIVE MOLLER STARTED HIS DUTY
The UN Secretary General’s Cyprus Special
Representative and Chief of the Mission of UNFCYP Michael Moller yesterday
started his new post.
Danish Diplomat was appointed to the place
of Zbigniew Wlosowicz, whose term of duty ended in Cyprus.
Moller, was the Assistant Chairman of UN
Secretary General’s Study Group and the Director of the Political, Peace
Force and Humanitarian Relations Office.
According to the information received from
UNFCYP, Michael Moller started his career in 1979 in UN High Commission
for Refugees and transferred to UN General Secretariat in 1984 where he
made different consultancy jobs. He also worked in Haiti, South Mexico,
and Iran.
Moller, who was graduated from UK’s Sussex
University’s International Relations Department is 52 years old and made
his masters degree in US at John Hopkins University on International
Relations.
