DR. KUCUK REMEMBERED
TALAT: "GREEK CYPRIOT SIDE HAS NO RIGHT TO MAKE
DECISIONS ABOUT NORTH CYPRUS"
The 22nd anniversary of the death of the
leader of the Turkish Cypriot peoples struggle for freedom Dr. Fazil Kucuk
was comemorated with a ceremony at his mausoleum in Anittepe.
Speaking at the ceremony, President Talat reiterated
that the Turkish Cypriot people would continue to follow the path shown by
Dr. Kucuk.
Stressing that if the UN was to create a fund for
developing North Cyprus its counterpart would be the legitimate
authorities in the TRNC, the President said its counterpart would not be
South Cyprus and contacts shouldn't be established with the Greek Cypriots
but with the TRNC authorities. He stated that on this and many other
similar issues the policies of the international community should be re-evaluated
together with the representatives of theTurkish Cypriot community.
President Talat said the Greek Cypriot Administration
had not got any authority over the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. He
said this was a legitimate argument which should be clearly understood by
everyone and added: "If a relationship is to be established with North
Cyprus and the Turkish Cypriots it will be formed directly with us and not
over South Cyprus. The Greek Cypriot Administration has no right
whatsoever to say anything or make decisions about North Cyprus. I want to
annouce this to the whole world from this hill top where our leader Dr.
Kucuk rests".
Indicating that from now on by uniting flexibility and
determination with reconciliation and not giving concessions the Turkish
Cypriot side would reach their aim, the President said flexibility did not
mean "indecisiveness". He said the Turkish Cypriot side would follow the
path outlined by Dr. Kucuk.
Continuing the President stressed that the TRNC was the
Turkish Cypriot people's legitimate and legal institution and together
with its institutions it should integrate with the whole world and further
develop its relations.
Referring to statements made in the Greek Cypriot side
that everything in the TRNC was illegal President Talat said all
institutions and offices of the TRNC were more legal and legitimate than
the Greek Cypriot administration's.
Explaining that the Greek Cypriot side was violating
many points in their own constitution, President Talat said the TRNC was
fully implementing the constitution it was bound to. He said: "It's for
this reason therefore that the Greek Cypriot side cannot compete with us
on the debate about legality. On the issue of legality the TRNC is on a
firmer ground compared to that of the Greek Cypriot side".
Indicating that institutions and offices in the TRNC
were elected and established by the Turkish Cypriot people and in this
context they only represented the Turkish Cypriot people, the President
said although the institutions and offices in the Greek Cypriot
Administration were elected by merely the Greek Cypriot people, Greek
Cypriots alleged to administer the whole of Cyprus and this also reflected
their illegitmacy.
GREEK CYPRIOTS TO GIVE TITLE DEEDS FOR
TURKISH CYPRIOT LANDS
The Greek Cypriot Administration has decided to give
title deeds to Greek Cypriots living in Turkish Cypriot properties in the
Greek Cypriot side. In a meeting under the leadership of Greek Cypriot
leader Tassos Papadopoulos it was decided that title deeds would be given
to Greek Cypriots who migrated to the South from the North after 1974.
