PRESIDENT TALAT WENT TO PAKISTAN WITH THE INVITATION
OF MUSERREF
President Mehmet Ali Talat and his wife Oya Talat yesterday (3
September) went to Pakistan with official invitation from
Pakistan Head of State Pervez Muserref.
President Talat besides Pervez Muserref, will also meet with
Pakistan Speaker of Parliament Cavduri Emir Huseyin, Pakistan
Prime Minister Sevket Aziz, Pakistan Minister of Tourism Nilufer
Bahtiyar and Pakistan Minister of Education Cavit Esref.
President Mehmet Ali Talat and his wife Oya Talat following the
completion of their contacts in Islamabad will return to the
TRNC on Wednesday (6 September).
TRNC PRESIDENCY: “TURKISH CYPRIOT SIDE IS FULLY
COMMITTED TO 8 JULY AGREEMENT”
Presidential Spokesman Hasan Ercakıca in a written statement
issued on Friday (I September), stated that the Turkish Cypriot
side was fully committed to 8 July Agreement and stressed
that the technical committees should start to their studies
without further delay.
Ercakıca pointed out that the UN Security Council statements
also supported the Turkish Cypriot side’s stance and goals.
Ercakıca stated that no agreement or decision could be more
important than finding an urgent and comprehensive settlement
to the
Cyprus issue.
He said while the Turkish Cypriot side welcome the Security
Council statements, it was at the same time ready to fulfill
its responsibilities.
MISSING PERSONS ISSUE…
EXHUMATIONS TO START WITH ARJANTINIAN EXPERTS
The autonomous
Missing Persons Committee, which has been carrying out studies
to find out the fate of missing Turkish and Greek Cypriots, is
to commence exhumation work on the Turkish Cypriot side today
within the framework of the project started in coordination with
the four members of the Argentine Forensic Medicine
Anthropology Team (EAAF).
According to the information received by Turkish Cypriot News
Agency (TAK) from the Committee’s Turkish Cypriot Member Gulden
Plumer Kucuk, following the preliminary exhumations in
Atalassa Forest and the Alaminyo village in South Cyprus, it
was decided to start exhumations in the Turkish Cypriot side.
Within the framework of the two month long project, the
exhumations will be carried out both in the North and in the
South.
