PRESIDENT TALAT’S  CONTACTS IN PAKISTAN

President Mehmet Ali Talat  started his contacts in Pakistan, where  he went as the guest of Pakistan Head of State Pervez Muserref.

President Talat, yesterday first met with  Pakistan Tuorism  Minister Nilüfar Bahtiyar, and then with the Pervez Muserref in the afternoon. Talat  later participated to dinner given in his honour  by Muserrev, at Pakistan  Presidential Palace Aiwan-e Sadr.

President Talat, will also meet with Pakistan Speaker of Parliament Cavduri Emir Huseyin, Pakistan Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz, and Pakistan Minister of Education Cavit Esref.

According to information received from the TRNC Presidency,   during their meeting Muserref and Talat  expressed   wishes towards  developing bi-lateral relations  and cooperation. Both leader especially  evaluated  joint   economic  initiative  possibilities on  light industry, tourism and  education.

Pakistan head of State Muserrev   gave full support to Turkish Cypriot policy for the lifting of the  isolations and said Pakistan will always  be by the side of Turkish Cypriots. He also said his country was ready to give every effort for reaching a comprehensive settlement in Cyprus.

Pakistan Prime Minister Shaukat  Aziz   in a statement issued  pointed out that Pakistan supported Turkey on every issue  and   was also ready to give support to Turkey  for the  just  solution of the Cyprus issue 

During his meeting with Pakistan Tuorism Minister,  President Talat  evaluated the development  of  the existing  relations between the two country and the  development  of the cooperation possibilities  on tourism.

In an interview given to  Pakistan state television  President Talat evaluating the current situation in Cyprus stated  that the existing isolations  on the Turkish Cypriot people were not only unjust   but at the same time consolidated  the continuation of  division of the island.

 President Talat stating that the EU disappointed the Turkish Cypriots by not keeping its promises  said  the Greek Cypriot side  after becoming  an EU member  had no longer  any reason to unite Cyprus.

 

PRIME MINISTER SOYER: DON’T FORGET THAT TURKISH CYPRIOTS ARE LIVING UNDER ISOLATIONS

Prime Minister Ferdi Sabit Soyer speaking during the opening ceremony of the OIC  (Organization of Islamic Countries) Youth Forum  for Dialogue and Cooperation Center in Istanbul Dolmabahce Palace yesterday (4 September), said: “I wish all the Islamic countries will never forget that the Turkish Cypriot people are living under isolations”.

Prime Minister Soyer stressed that the Turkish Cypriot people was spending so much effort in order to continue to exist on the basis of equality  and to integrate with the world by preserving their communal and religious needs.

Reminding that the Turkish Cypriot people fully supported the Annan plan, Soyer said: “While supporting the plan, we wished that the Turkish Cypriot people who believe in Islam and the Greek Cypriot people who believe in Christianity would agree on a partnership based on equality and achieve a settlement within the EU on the basis of political equality.”
