TURKISH SATES AND COMMUNITIES CONGRESS…
PRESIDENT TALAT: “TURKISH WORLD SHOULD STRENGTEN ITS SUPPORT TO
THE TRNC”
President Mehmet Ali Talat
pointing out that the world and the international community have
changed its point of view towards the Turkish Cypriot people
said, primarily, the Turkish world should strengthen their
support and solidarity to the Turkish Cypriots and the TRNC.
The President speaking at the
10th Turkish States and Communities Friendship,
Brotherhood and Cooperation Congress, which started in Antalya,
Kemer yesterday (18 September), stressed the importance of being
in solidarity and unity as the Turkish world and the states.
President Talat explaining
that the Turkish Cypriots were aware that the Turkish world was
always by their side and supported them, added that they were
also engaged in efforts for actively materializing this.
President Talat stated that
although the international organizations have understood the
Turkish Cypriots, they could not reach to the point of lifting
the existing isolations imposed on the Turkish Cypriots and to
enable them to integrate with the world. He added that the Greek
Cypriot side, which usurped the title of the Republic of Cyprus,
by using the advantage of being an EU member, has done its
utmost to prevent the integration of the TRNC with the world.
Underlining that the Turkish
Cypriot people desired peace, stability and to unite with the
rest of the world as a democratic and secular state, Talat said:
“While the world and the
international community have changed its point of view for the
Turkish Cypriots, I think, primarily the Turkish world should
further strengthen its support and solidarity towards the TRNC.
I don’t expect you to behave against the world values. The
Turkish Cypriot people and the TRNC fully respect world values
and law. The TRNC wants peace and aims to achieve a settlement
and stability in the region and to integrate with the world.
TRNC is a secular and a democratic state which only wants its
rights from other states, nothing more.”
