PRESIDENT TALAT: “NEGOTIATIONS COULD START IN JUNE”
President Mehmet
Ali Talat stated that the negotiations towards a solution in
Cyprus could start by the end of June.
Speaking during the
40th General Council meeting of the Chamber of
Electrical Engineers, President Talat said the Greek Cypriot
administration has adopted a more moderate stance compared to
the past in the formation of technical committees and working
groups and added that the topics of almost all the committees
have been determined.
Pointing out that
some of the committees would start their studies next week,
President Talat said: “If there is a real intention, the Cyprus
problem can be solved”. Referring to the possible side effects
of the solution of the Cyprus problem Talat said the markets
should be prepared for this.
Talat added that besides the government the markets should also
contribute to this preparation process and the country’s economy
should be considered as a whole.
