ANNIVERSARY OF DR. FAZIL KUCUK’S DEATH…
FOREIGN MINISTER AVCI: “HIS HONORABLE STRUGGLE WILL
CONTINUE TO BE A GUIDE FOR OUR DETERMINATION FOR
PROTECTING OUR IDENTITY AND RIGHTS”
Deputy Prime Minister and
Minister of Foreign Affairs Turgay Avcý stated that
the Turkish Cypriot people have never given
concessions on their identity and rights even in
most difficult days and are determined to continue
to protect their rights. Avcý said: “Honorable
struggle given by our Leader for Freedom Dr. Fazýl
Kucuk and his people will continue to be a guide for
our determination for protecting our identity and
rights.”
Foreign Minister Avcý, in his
message issued on the 24th anniversary of
Dr. Fazýl Kucuk’s death said: “Once more we are
remembering Dr. Fazýl Kucuk with respect and express
our gratitude for his great services for the Turkish
Cypriot People”.
Avcý stating that Dr. Fazýl Kucuk
has a historic role in Turkish Cypriot people’s
struggle for freedom, said: “The main goal of our
struggle is to defend our people’s interests. Dr.
Fazýl Kucuk who has given an honorable struggle
together with his people and motherland Turkey
against an anachronistic mentality, which did not
even respect to the Turkish Cypriot people’s right
to life, will continue to have a special place in
Turkish Cypriot people’s hearts.
Dr. Kucuk has always been
together and united with his people and as a result
of his honorable struggle he managed to see the
establishment of the Turkish Republic of Northern
Cyprus.”
Stressing that the inhuman
attacks against the existence of the Turkish Cypriot
people, which started in 1950s, was continuing today
through other means, Avcý said although the Turkish
Cypriot people has displayed a strong determination
towards a permanent settlement, they were still
isolated.
