TRNC FAIRSTAND RECEIVES THE THIRD AWARD OF THE BEST STAND

ITB Berlin 2008 Tourism Fair has ended yesterday (9 March). The TRNC stand at the ITB Berlin 2008 Tourism Fair has been awarded as the third best stand in Europe.

The reward has been received by the Economy and Tourism Ministry Undersecretary Hasan Kilic at a ceremony during which the state and government officials from countries participated in the fair were present.

Speaking on the issue, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Economy and Tourism Hasan Kilic said receiving such a significant award by leaving many countries behind was a big source of pride. Kilic added that the award was very important in terms of gaining reputation on the international platform.

For his part, Tourism Coordinator of the TRNC Ministry of Economy and Tourism in Germany Onal Dorak who is responsible for the organization of the TRNC’s fairstand at the ITB Berlin Tourism Fair, stated that he was very pleased to see the fruits of their studies and that this would highly contribute to the promotion of the TRNC.

 

 

GERMAN NEWSPAPER PROMOTES TRNC’S TOURISM

German newspaper Welt am Sonntag, which is one of the leading newspapers in Germany, promoted the TRNC’s tourism in its travel pages.

Pointing out that the TRNC was one of the best touristic places in Mediterranean which is worth to visit, the newspaper noted that tourists could enjoy the unspoilt and long beaches and see the historical ruins in the TRNC.

The article said one of the biggest castles in the Mediterranean, which was built in the 15th century by Venetians, was in Gazimagusa. The article also noted that the historical buildings from Roman and Christianity period looked in full harmony with Islamic buildings in the city center and added that the archeologists have recently found a historical artifact belonging to the period of Roman Emperor Augustus.
