LYNN PASCOE ARRIVES IN THE ISLAND
A delegation headed by the
United Nations Undersecretary-general for
Political Affairs Lynn Pascoe, who is expected
to take an initiative for starting the
negotiations towards the solution of the Cyprus
problem, has arrived in Cyprus last night (30
March) in order to hold contacts with officials
from both sides.
Lynn Pascoe and his
delegation will carry out contacts in both sides
of the island until Wednesday (2 April).
As part of his contacts on
the island, Pascoe will be meeting with
President Mehmet Ali Talat and Greek Cypriot
leader Demetris Christofias today.
Lynn
Pascoe will fly to New York on Wednesday in
order to inform the UN Secretary General about
his contacts in Cyprus.
According to the statement issued by the
UNFICYP’s Spokesperson Jose Luis Diaz, during
his contacts in Cyprus, Lynn Pascoe will make an
evaluation on the latest developments in Cyprus
with the aim of helping UN Secretary General Ban
Ki Moon to determine his next step on the Cyprus
issue.
It was also stated that
Pascoe and his delegation will also be coming
together with representatives of political
parties and NGOs.
TRNC TOURISM OFFICE IN SOUTH KOREA
STARTS ITS PROMOTION CAMPAIGN
Northern Cyprus Tourism Office opened in the
South Korean capital Seoul has given a start to
its promotion campaign.
The
office, which has been opened in line with the
protocol signed between the TRNC Ministry of
Economy and Tourism and the Parados Europe
Company based in South Korea, are distributing
brochures promoting North Cyprus.
According to a statement
issued by the Ministry of Economy and Tourism, a
series of activities aimed at promoting the TRNC
tourism office have started.
The
signing ceremony for the protocol between the
Minister of Economy and Tourism Erdoğan Şanlıdağ
and the Representative of the Parados Europe
Company Lee Chun Hoon and the opening of the
TRNC Tourism office in Seoul has appeared in the
South Korean daily “Global Travel News”.
TRNC REPRESENTATIVE OFFICE IS TO
OPEN IN OMAN’S CAPITAL MUSCAT
Rıza
Ömer Çinkılıç has been appointed as the
Representative of the TRNC office in Oman’s
capital Muscat which will open soon.
The
Council of Ministers’ decision for the
appointment of Çinkılıç was published in the
Official Gazette on 25 March 2008.
According to the decision, the TRNC Council of
Ministers, within the framework of the decision
dated 17 January 2007 for the opening of TRNC
Representation Offices in Qatar and Oman, has
approved the appointment of Rıza Ömer Çinkılıç,
following the completion of visa procedures, as
a Director/Representative to the TRNC Office to
be opened in Oman’s capital Muscat.
