FOREIGN MINISTER AVCI’S CONTACTS IN DAMASCUS
AVCI: “OUR
CONTACTS WOULD PRODUCE IMPORTANT RESULTS”
Deputy Prime
Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Turgay Avcý stated that the
contacts carried out in Syrian capital Damascus would lead to very important
developments.
Following the
completion of his contacts in Damascus, Foreign Minister Avcý went to
Palmyra which is the main tourist and the biggest archaic city of Syria.
Foreign
Minister Avcý who went to Syria on the 1st of May with the aim of
improving tourism relations between the TRNC and Syria besides meeting with
the Turkish Cypriot representatives of tourism sector and the press also
came together with the Syrian Chamber of Tourism, the Leader of the regions
of Homes and Hama Azam Jundi and the Chairman of Syrian Chamber of
Navigation Abdul Kader Sabra.
Pointing out
that his contacts in Damascus were very fruitful, Avcý said these meetings
would lead to very important developments.
Speaking at
Palmyra Cham Palace Avcý said the TRNC Foreign Ministry has always supported
these kinds of promotion tours.
Noting that
their aim was to open to the world, Foreign Minister said the vision of the
Foreign Ministry included not only supporting political openings but also
the openings in the fields of tourism, trade and culture.
Avcý added
that the ferryboat services which started between the TRNC and Syria after
30 years break, would continue.
Explaining
that he has got the impression that the members of the group visiting Syria
favored to carry out these kinds of visits to other countries as well, Avcý
said they would continue to work for providing new opportunities towards
holding such visits. |
