ÖZGÜRGÜN: “IT IS PLEASURE TO HOST A
FORUM AND EXHIBITION ON ‘HIGHER
EDUCATION SERVICES IN THE OIC MEMBER
STATES’ IN THE TRNC”

Minister and Foreign Minister Hüseyin
Özgürgün has received a delegation
from Organization of Islamic Countries
headed by Ambassador Nabika Diallo.
The organization
Committee was participated to the
coordination meeting held in TRNC
within the framework of the
preparations of a Forum and
Exhibition on “Higher Education
Services in the OIC Member States”
that is planned to be held in the
TRNC, in April 2011.
In his speech
Özgürgün thanked Ekmeleddin İhsanoğlu,
Secretary General of the OIC and his
delegation for arranging these kinds
of events in the TRNC.
Emphasizing to the
importance of these kinds of events,
which are becoming an instrument to
halt unjust isolation imposed on the
Turkish Cypriot people, Özgürgün
expressed his pleasure for osting such
an organization.
Stating that TRNC
is on the way of becoming an important
education center in the Eastern
Mediterranean region, Özgürgün
informed the participants about the
TRNC universities and said this
organization will not only led
participants to share their
acquirements and experiences with each
other but also will be a good
opportunity for the investors to see
TRNC’s cultural and scenic beauties.
Özgürgün also added
that this organization will contribute
to improving the relations with OIC
countries and the TRNC in educational
as well as in economic, social and
cultural manner.
ÖZGÜRGÜN: “NEGOTIATING TEAM IS ALMOST
READY”

Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister
Hüseyin Özgürgün has said members of
the negotiating team is almost defined
and within this framework TRNC’s New
York Representative Kemal Gökeri was
recalled before end of his term of
office, to take part in the
negotiating team.
Indicating that a
Representative office will be opened
in Sweden, Özgürgün said
representatives for Sweden and New
York offices will be appointed soon.
Making a press
statement prior to the Council of
Ministers meeting held yesterday,
Özgürgün said negotiating team is
largely defined but the names will be
announced by President Derviş Eroğlu.
Stating that Kemal
Gökeri was recalled before the end of
his term of office Özgürgün said he is
specifically asked to take part in the
negotiating team by President Derviş
Eroğlu.
UN,
NEGOTIATIONS WILL RESUME ON MAY 26
Cyprus negotiations
that are suspended due to the
presidential elections in the TRNC
will resume on 26 May 2010.
According to the
statement made by the UN Peace Force
in Cyprus, the meeting will be held at
10:00 in the buffer zone. It is
indicated in the statement that the
details with regard to the decision
taken as a result of contacts held
with UN Secretary General’s Special
Advisor on Cyprus Alexander Downer
with President Derviş Eroğlu and Greek
Cypriot Leader Dimitris Hristofias
will be announced later.
